Paul Crook & Brian May stopped by the shop recently to discuss the new guitar we are building him. Paul bought Brian one our Solid Korina RVC Guitars See Below Brian picked up a couple JJ Heart guitars one for his Daughter and one for Paul's Girlfriend. Brian was flipping out over the RVC so Paul gave me his credit card and said to pack it up and hide it from sight. Paul sprang it on Brian on the limo ride back to the hotel !!! Paul never even asked the price of the guitar !!!!. He just said " Pack it so I can surprise Brian" Needless To Say, Brian was knocked out and is now playing it on his World Tour with Paul Rodgers singing. |

December 2004 Ed Roman is building Brian May a new guitar which is scheduled to be finished in time for his world tour with Queen in March of 2005. It will look like his original "Red Special" and have basically the same designed electronics but the guitar will be much different than the original. First & foremost this guitar will feature a Neck through body construction unlike the glued up original, It will also have the pickups solidly mounted like the original but unlike all the copies which have been spring loaded. This guitar will utilize the Pearlcaster Tremolo which we have already been using to modify all the guitars for the "We Will Rock You Show's This guitar will have a solid Korina body and a Quartersawn solid korina neck. It will have an Ebony board instead of the Rosewood original. (Brian Told Ed that he had originally wanted Ebony but couldn't afford it at the time) This guitar will classify itself as "The Abstract Brian May guitar" and will only be made available to the public if Brian gives us the OK. This Guitar will also have the hand installed Buzz Feiten Tuning System which Brian really likes. Ed & Brian are still discussing, Fret Size, Neck Radius, Nut Size, & Inlays but it should be completed in time. |

We will of course still be carrying the Burns models and the new lower cost imported Brian May Guitars which are quite good when you consider the pricing. Brian autographed every one of our Burns Models that we had in stock. (How Cool Is That)
This guitar has taken over two years to come to fruition and is the end result of many prototype models. Brian May was insistent that not only should this guitar be affordable but is of the highest standard using only the best quality timber and parts available. |

| In the 60's everyone who was anyone used Burns Guitars,
George Harrison, The Searchers, Jerry & the Pacemakers, Freddie & The
Dreamers, The Dave Clark 5, The Tremoloes and even the King himself
(Elvis). In fact
Rickenbacker,
Mosrite,
Gretsch & Burns
were the main contributors to the 60's guitar sound.
As the Guitar has developed Brian has inspected each prototype, changing only small details to achieve the end product. This Guitar is now as exact a replica as you would expect, with the exception of the tremolo unit which Brian has agreed to use on the production models. The Burns Tri-Sonic® Pickups are handmade to the original design and when tested alongside the original Red Special guitar Brian was astonished by the similarity of the sound. The pickup switching system is also exactly the same as the
original spec. An on/off switch for each of the pickups and an in and out
of phase switch for each pickup, One Master Volume and One Master Tone control. Brian also insisted that the nut width should be the same as per original 45mm. The Machine heads were also a critical factor, for greater turning stability Brian chose locking Grover Tuners. The neck is hard rock maple and glued to the body, fitted with an A grade Ebony fingerboard. With 24 medium frets, + zero fret, Scale 24 inch (610mm). Achieving the color was one of the biggest obstacles as most
people who know of Brian's original Guitar consider it to be Red!!! In
fact the Guitar is more Brown color Brian agreed to compromise with a slightly redder finish. There are two colors available, Vintage Cherry (Red) and three tone sunburst as this was Brian's request. Voted 'Best Guitar of the Year 2001' by
